Two Dynamic

Man what can i say....she was awesome; a completely "uneek" individual. Lisa "Left eye" Lopez, the heart of TLC(T-Boz, Lefteye, and Chili), my favorite childhood group... Not only was she a trend setter, she was a romodel promoting safe sex with the condom over the left eye of her sunglasses. She had a very interesting style. She also contributed to such songs as creep, and waterfalls with lyrics of her own. As I watched the last Days of Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes I was stunned... She was here only looking for her purpose, and attempting to find peace.

Then we have Aaliyah bron January 16, 1979- august 25, 2001. She was my idol. The woman I looked up to for being classy, young, chik, and amongst other things herself. Aaliyah began her career very young and became a multi threat. Beginning as a Tommy Hilfiger model she had a lean mean physique, and a face to die for. She acted in things such as:Romeo must die, and Queen of the damned where she proved that she was more that a pretty face. Her major gift was her voice. A few of her hit songs were: age ain't nothin but a number, one in a million, rock the boat, and try again. Even though she was dearly departed in 2001 her music forever lives on, and her memory remains.

Rehab

"Boy, boy, boy", Rihanna is a phenomenal artist. The topic this week is Rehab a newer song from the Barbadian songstress.I would say either she was going through real emotional traumas or is a really good writer, because this song is deeper than the ocean... When she says that she needs to go to rehab, and that you are her disease... I wonder if a "happy" person can really write something like that or if she is revisiting her past?

stanky leg Vs. Ricky Bobby

As we all know there has been a dance craze. Fortunately for us the skanky leg came along. The funny thing is the dance is similar to the name. You literally look as if you stepped in something bad and are trying to get it off of your shoe. The Ricky Bobby on the other hand is a a simple combination of steps that to me is better, considering it causes no harm to my ankles. Besides it's more to do, to occupy my time with something more than my legs. It's a miniature workout. I mean seriously people would you rather do a dance named after poo, or a person...? Think about it.

“Wow”, the first time I heard this song I loved it. For awhile it was just me there listening to the beat, and then as I began to listen to the words I realized how much it applied to teenage girls everywhere. This song seemed to be an anthem for the girl with low self esteem, the girl who had just lost her boyfriend, the girl who couldn’t be like anyone else if she wanted to, and the little rocker chick in all of us. Certain things I must say bothered me, but rounding the chorus:
“ I've had a lot of failed relationships
I don't get involved because I'm not equipped
I believe that the world should revolve around me
I don't see the point in a partnership
It won't be long until they start to trip
Yessiree, the whole world should revolve around me!”
This particular song as egotistical as it sounds is empowering, oozes independence, dynamic . . . makes me feel like I can conquer the world single handedly. Obviously this sassy songstress with her modern day afro, unique style, and complete disregard of what other people think of her, has taken a class in individuality. My take on this: "She should keep rocking out"

My Life

Lil Wayne, a very well known artist has been featured in many songs, one being My Life. The Game a former member of G-unit has also been pretty well known with such pieces as Dreams, and, This is How we do featuring 50 cent. No offense to Lil Wayne but, sometimes it seems as if he is “talking out the side of his neck” when he rhymes. I have no clue what he is talking about; I just know that he’s really nice eye candy. In this particular piece that he is featured in he proves that he can be, eloquent, and thoughtful while still keeping his swagger. Though Wayne plays a key role in this song you have to give props to the true voice The game. Showing that you can “flow”, bring sensitivity, and truth, all at the same time while making a hit, it would seem would be pretty difficult; yet he manages to pull it off. With his rough edge, but sleek demeanor it’s no wonder why all of the ladies swoon over him.

Single ladies

So yea, I was listening to 97.9 the beat, and "Oh My Gosh" that single ladies song by Beyonce is so totally awesome. I mean besides the fact that i am in high school and would prefer not to get married right now it's great. My one question though. . .could it have possibly been for her love bug, the hip hop mogul, a certain Mr. Jay Z? I don't know but it seems a little personal, and she has said before that she writes about her personal life so. . .you take a listen and tell me what you think about Ms. "single lady"

retrospect

So I was thinking of the person i am and started wondering what my favorite song was. Wow i had no idea how retro an far back I went. I love lil wayne, mary j blige, rihanna, T.I, and leona lewis, but as i keep going back I realized that i'm more into older music. In watching the Hip Hop Honors show last night i noticed that i loved slick rick. With his rap childrens story he could possibly be one of the baddest rappers ever, if he made a song this millenium. I'm just saying between the lyrics and his acceent the guy can blow.
